Felt Flower Wreath

Look what I made...

Remember the felt I mentioned earlier...?
Well here is the result:

I was originally inspired to make this from pinterest....and then my sister made one. All of this spurred me to create one of my own (and it helps me rationalize my addiction to pinterest). Oh and if you notice the strands of hot glue on my wreath...ignore them. I was too eager to photograph my project and didn't notice them until now. This entire project was very easy and probably only took an hour max. I included the link to create the flowers below. I simply hot glued everything on the wreath to finish it off. Simple enough.

The original idea for how to create the felt flowers can be found by clicking here.

I am off to the cabin to spend the weekend with my family. It is also the official "dock/boat lift out party"...fun fun ;)
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Handmade Baby Blocks and Onsies.

This was a project I completed over a month ago. In my rush to complete them before we left for our anniversary trip I remembered to take a few photos. Good thing I finished them too, because my nephew was born a few days later :) I enjoyed working on these simple projects, and had fun playing around with the bright fabrics.
For the onsie appliques I ironed my fabric onto some interfacing and then cut out my design. I then ironed on the applique to the onsie and finally stitched around the edges to secure. There are quite a few tutorials online so I didn't worry about typing up another one.

Now these blocks below took a little more time, but were still pretty easy to make. I used the following tutorial from Happy Together to make them.

It felt good to get back into my sewing. I have a few more projects in mind now that things are slowing down again, and schedules are actually in existence.

Tonight I thought about starting a project but I ended up curling up on the couch watching a cheesy hallmark movie while sipping on coffee. Oh and there may have been some pumpkin bread involved as well...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful & cozy weekend too!

Create Week 3: flower pin

Here is a little project I did with some scraps of fabric. It only took a few minutes, and I liked the end result. I am looking forward to trying out different types of flowers and fabrics.

Create Week 2: Yo-Yo Table Runner

Week two is complete. Well I truly did finish this project this weekend, but it took me awhile to get around to photographing it. Now I am already halfway through this week and no project started. Umm...I may have to skip a week so that I don't make this new goal one I regret. I will be flexible. Anyway, back to my project...

This was a rather tedious project, but it was easy to do it in pieces throughout the week. I would finish a "yo-yo" in a few minutes while watching tv or something like that. Splitting it up throughout the day made it less monotonous. I think that the end product is fun and colorful for spring. I had my doubts and actually thought about not finishing it, but now I am glad I did. I even got a compliment from Ben, so the fact that he noticed our new table decor must mean it is at least half way decent. (by the way... the mums in the pictures are from Ben)

Overall, it was really easy to make. The actual tutorial came from a sewing calendar I have, but I found the website where it came from as well.

Create Week 1: Fabric tube scarf

For my first week I decided to make a scarf because I have a slight addiction to wearing them. I own too many, so I definitely should not purchase any new ones. Making one, however, seems perfectly logical to me...

So here is my scarf below. Week one was a success (at least I thought so)

My favorite part is the back where I have two large wooden buttons to secure the two ends.

Tutorial found at: FabricWorm

I used the tutorial as a guide, but for the most part I did my own interpretation of what I thought would work.

My New Goal: to create

There are so many wonderful tutorials out there that make me want to drop everything I am doing and create things.

I usually run into a few problems...

1. I think I don't have enough time. (which I do, I just don't manage it well)

2. I don't have the supplies I need to create the things I see. ( which is solves by a few trips to a craft store every once in awhile)

So here is my goal.

I will try out a new tutorial EVERY week. It may be simple, it may be complex, I may fail miserably.

But you know what, that's okay. I can fail, but I want to at least try.

I will post the link to the tutorial and then share with you my process and the final product.

(I feel good about this) (yes)

**my first project is a scarf made out of some fabric I bought a year ago and never figured out what to do with it. So...I decided I should make something that I could actually wear out of it.

I will do this. I am kind of giddy about it actually.

I am going to start this week.

Wish me luck!
