A well photographed weekend.

Our weekend was filled with many things: good friends, good food, afternoon walks, melting snow, a trip to the cities, a trip up north, iced coffee, a big fish, visiting both families, a walk with our nephew and sister-in-law, a basketball game, afternoons spent driving to nowhere in particular, warm sunshine, wind & rain, lazy days, popcorn mixed with m&ms, zumba workouts, early birthday celebrations, swimming, playing a little blackjack, long car rides, good conversations, naps, staying up late, sleeping in... oh I could go on and on. The photos below depict a few of these things, but many were too busy being enjoyed to take out my camera.

A weekend overflowing with blessings. I hope each one of you were able to enjoy your own little adventure this past weekend too...

On our way home

Our weekend is done, and the week must begin.

We are all packed up and ready for our four hour drive home. About an hour into our drive we get to stop and have breakfast at a small diner with my parents. After consuming your usual diner breakfast and a few cups of caffeine we should be good to go. It is nice to have this pit stop on early mornings in the car. It gives us a chance to slow down and relax into conversation with my parents. We laugh about stories and new happenings and make plans for future trips home.

For your viewing pleasure I thought I'd share with you three things that I do during this long drives*...

*not shown but also important to surviving car rides: books, knitting, napping, talking with the husband about anything and everything, etc.

A rather long weekend

We are still enjoying our mini vacation.
I love when the weekend is allowed to slip into Monday.
Please don't hate me for also telling you it is going to continue to slip into most of Tuesday.
Oh and it started on Friday...

This lovely long weekend is normally not possible, so we are enjoying every cozy minute of it.
I've already consumed two cups of coffee this morning and some delicious blueberry coffee cake.

I have more to share about the weekend, but I am determined not to spend my last day on the computer.
So I'll write more soon...

The Lake in Black and White (mostly)

A few weeks ago, we spent the weekend on a quiet lake. The sun was warm during the day, and the mosquitoes were thick at night. Here are the photos I meant to share a few weeks ago as well.

an iced coffee for the road...

I am terrified of spiders but amazed by their abilities at the same time...

an evening snack...chocolate and more coffee

and lastly a few in color...
because sometimes it is just necessary.

When I think of the Summer months that have passed I often think of time spent next to the lake. I can't imagine this season without the warm sun on my face and cool water on my toes. This is where I am off to for the weekend, and it gets even better...my sweet nephew will be there as well.
