Lately

This weekend has been filled with a mixture of cozy laziness and mild organizing.

Fruit smoothie and the bump taking a organizing break. (Smoothie: strawberries, banana, blueberry, ground flax seed, and almond milk)

Simplifying my wardrobe (aka packing away things I won't be fitting into the next few months)
and those boxes in the background hold our crib waiting to be set up!

Lunch, coffee & dessert with a friend. (you can even see the sun decided to shine through the cafe windows)

still working on this project

my drive home from my glucose screening test (thankful to have passed, whoop!)

This is what greeted Ben and I when we arrived home on Monday. The view is currently much less white, but the rain is preventing me from running to the middle of the street to take a photo to show you.

*all pictures taken on my phone*

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Spring Colors

One of my students shared with me that we are expected to receive four inches of snow this weekend. I am choosing to doubt his weather report not because of his trustworthiness, but simply because I need it to be spring. A few of the top reasons being...

1. I no longer have a jacket that fits my bump.

2. I want to be able to get out of the house and go on evening walks with Ben. We managed a brief walk yesterday but it wasn't very comfortable (see reason #1).

3. I need some color in my life (my pale winter skin included). So while I choose to ignore the talk of snow please enjoy a few glimpses of colors from last weekend spent with our families.

A sneak peak of a baby blanket currently in the works...

Some Easter flowers on my mom's table...

A few details from the adorable gender reveal brunch for my brother and sister-in-law. See more of the detail on Jen's Blog.

In case you were wondering I did check the weather forecast. There is talk of maybe an inch of snow before it turns into rain. I can handle the rain...rain melts snow. Oh and the optimist in me is holding on to the sixty-seven degree day showing up on my 15 day forecast. I can wait...for a bit more.

If you forget your coffee in the microwave...

This week has been one of those "I reheat my mug of coffee every hour and still forget to drink it" kind of weeks. Please tell me you do that too, the constant battle of trying to finish a cup of coffee before you get distracted? I finally gave up trying to finish my hot coffee, and switched over to iced coffee for the afternoon.

We will see if that gets finished.
One reason for my inability to focus on my caffeine needs is that there is currently no room on my desk for a cup of any kind. Which is perhaps better because there are currently almost two hundred wedding invites waiting to be assembled, and one wrong move could mean hours of work becoming coffee tinted.

I've been taking breaks from staring at my computer screen to sit outside on our patio. In between planning out where my new seedlings will eventually call home, I have also been reading my recipe books from the library. I love my library. Seriously. I always have at least six different cookbooks, novels, gardening books, etc. checked out. Who needs to spend money? (besides the occasional late fee, haha)...

Well I better get back to work.

I'm beyond excited for these wedding invites...final product to be shared soon.

I usually find the surface of my desk about every other week. The upside? usually the messier it is the more work I am doing.

currently reading for new recipes.

various herbs, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, and garden peas waiting for summer...

P.S. Are you craving iced coffee now? I apologize, and to make amends here is the recipe on how to make it....Perfect Iced Coffee

Your timing is off

The first day of spring was a few days ago, and just the thought of warmer weather caused happiness in our household. While doing some grocery shopping we wandered through the outdoor/garden department, so I wishfully picked up some planting supplies so that I could start a few seedlings before the warmer weather arrives.

We only have a small patio for growing so I was very limited as to what I can actually grow, but we decided on some tomatoes and red peppers since those are two of the more commonly used vegetables in our kitchen. I also planted some oregano, rosemary, and chives. Here are some over exposed photos of the process. (I was too lazy to change the exposure because my hands were covered with dirt)

Now here is where the poor timing comes in.

There is currently a snowstorm barreling our way. Right now it is only sleeting a bit, but from the look of the local forecast we could get up to a foot of snow. Your appropriate response should be "are you kidding me?!". And no, I am not...but I wish I was. The snow is unwelcome especially when flooding is already such a risk. Snow storm warnings and flood warnings...

Snow.

Rain.

Sleet.

Cold.

Lightning and Thunder too?! (not kidding at all)

Where is the sun?
